The city is known for its greenery, rich history, peace-loving people and its varieties of culinary treats. Apart from the well-known seafood and the fine restaurants, one should explore Vizag street food which will excite your palates to a whole new level.
If you’re planning to visit the city in any near future or if you’re already standing in one of the Vizag beaches and wondering what to eat, you’ve come to the right place. We introduce you to the fantastic and famous food in Visakhapatnam and where you can find it.

1. Muri Mixture

No lazy day on the beaches of Vizag goes by without the inclusion of Muri Mixture. This snack is a divine amalgamation of peanuts, puffed rice, onions, chilli, and tomatoes. With a toss of cilantro and a squeeze of lemon on top, this snack is the pleasure of every common man in the city before he goes to his home and adjusts to a less-exciting dinner.

2. Sweet Corn

Most of the famous food of Vizag is available at beaches. This boiled sweet corn carts can be found all along the belt of Tenneti Park and RK beach. There is nothing special with the corn or the taste of it here; but eating it while taking a walk in the seashore is totally worth it. You can also get roasted corn, cooked directly on burning coals.

3. Dosa

There are many places in Vizag like Sairam Parlour and Venkatadri Vantillu, where you get a tasty dosa. But as we are talking about street food, it is unfair to not mention about this particular tiffin cart in the city. A bunch of guys migrated from Guntur to Vizag to treat the city with crispy and delicious dosas. The chutneys here  make people come again and again. It’s not unusual to see a traffic jam on this road every mornings, as people come from near and far to eat breakfast here.

4. Liver Kebab

Imagine yourself being tired from a long day and being treated with a hot chicken kebab stick and a lemon soda. This series of kebab stalls offer a variety of snacks including liver kebab, mutton kebab, chicken kebab, and boneless fish fry. Make sure you go there hungry otherwise you may regret not being able to eat everything on offer.

5. Idli

There are many places in the city which offer top-class idli, but, for a midnight snack,  head to Vizag Railway station and treat yourself with a hot plate of Idli with tomato chutney. Railway station Idli is a delicious last resort food option for those hungry college students and employees who burn the midnight oil and are looking for something to eat.

6. Bamboo Chicken

Although Bongu Chicken is not widely available in the city of Vizag, this is a popular dish in Araku, a hill station near Visakhapatnam which is famous for its thick forests and valleys. Bongu Chicken is prepared by stuffing an empty bamboo stick with marinated chicken and burning it on coals for a smokey flavour. Enroute Araku, you can find many vendors on the roadside preparing this wild dish. Even though it is a bit expensive, Bongu Chicken is totally worth its price.
